Promoting Your Pressure Station

As the nation's biggest blood pressure testing event, the BPA's Know your Numbers! Week generates extensive publicity to raise awareness about the detection of high blood pressure, its management and prevention.

The BPA Press Office promotes KYN! Week through national and regional media in advance of and during the Week. Details provided for all public Pressure Stations are included on the BPA's website for members of the public to find their nearest venue. However, the scale of the event means that it is not usually possible for the BPA to create targeted publicity for individual Pressure Stations.

We strongly recommend that Pressure Station organisers conduct their own local publicity/promotion to generate maximum local orawareness of their event. Organisers should also contact their organisation's Press Office for help with publicity.

The BPA has a Promotions Guide and Template News Release to help registered Pressure Station organisers effectively promote your KYN event. Tips include:

Make it visible - make sure your Pressure Station is in a prominent location and use the BPA's resource pack materials to create an eye-catching display

Standards - please follow the BPA's terms and conditions, particularly the guidelines for testing, to ensure your blood pressure testing is conducted accurately and professionally
Pre-publicity - use the posters provided by the BPA, email alerts, organisation intranets and the BPA's template news release to ensure people are aware of your event
Photos - invite the local press to come along and take a photo and send the BPA your own good quality photos after the event for post-publicity and our evaulation report.

Publicity not only helps to raise awareness about high blood pressure and the BPA, but is also a good opportunity for you to promote the good work that you and your organisation are doing as part of this important healthcare event.

Whilst we want your efforts to be recognised, please remember that Pressure Stations are set up as part of the Blood Pressure Assocation's event so this must be made clear in all your promotion and publicity and the BPA's branding guidelines followed.

For a copy of the BPA's Promotions Guide and Template News Release please email mhooley@sgul.ac.uk or call 020 8772 4992.
If you would like to discuss publicising your KYN event please contact the BPA's Press Office on 020 8772 4993/4984.
