Drug therapy will now be available for the first time to people over the age of 80 who have high blood pressure. New evidence shows that even in the over 80s, drug treatment does reduce heart attack, stroke, deaths and hospitalisation caused by high blood pressure.
GP's will have to follow strict guidance when treating people older than 60.
